Computer Science Education

Over the past decade, computers have become increasingly important to all aspects of daily life. As the need for technological resources increases, so does the need for high-tech skills. Technology will be more crucial than ever in the coming years and being fluent in computer science will become increasingly important.

Unfortunately, many underserved schools and communities currently do not have the resources to provide a quality computer science education. As a result, many people are left without the skills to be able to succeed in a digital world.

To aid in closing the digital divide, Tech For Good hosts classes and lectures at local youth and community centers. To find out more about our classes or to enroll, visit makethestars.org

Internet Access

High-speed internet access is no longer a luxury - it is a necessity. From attending online classes to simply learning more about the world, the internet allows for the consumption of vast amounts of information and media. Many underserved and underfunded areas, however, do not have access to a high-speed internet connection, hindering the ability of residents to attend classes and learn.

By leveraging partnerships with community centers, internet service providers, and network infrastructure providers, Tech For Good aims to provide everyone with access to a high-speed internet connection.

Making sure that every person in need has access to an internet connection ensures that they have the resources necessary to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

Electronic Waste Recycling

The average American household has over 20 electronic devices. With the rapid increase in technological innovation comes the need to manage the waste produced when devices stop functioning. Improper disposal of electronic waste leads to millions of pounds of it ending up in landfills rather than being recycled.

The production of these electronic devices requires intense human capital and materials which are discarded after electronics are improperly disposed of. Additionally, hazardous materials such as mercury, lead, and nickel pose risks to the environment and the health of human workers if improperly handled.

Tech For Good works to prevent the improper disposal of electronic devices by setting up collection drives and properly disposing of collected materials at refurbishment centers and proper disposal facilities.

Services for the Homeless

Homelessness affects over 500,000 people each year in the United States. Individuals who experience homelessness have trouble finding jobs, setting up basic services, and moving up the economic ladder. Due to a lack of educational services and opportunities for these people, many are stuck begging for money on the streets and sleeping in alleyways.

By providing education and other essential services such as banking, mailing addresses, and attire for interviews, Tech For Good is able to help people experiencing homelessness get up onto their feet and off the streets.
